Kikyo-ya in Hakuba-mura

Delicious sushi and lovely Japanese environ. It was difficult for us sitting on the floor the traditional Japanese way but the food made it worth it and we had a lovely dinner and occasion.

Excellent sushi and sashimi restaurant in a cosy atmosphere. Was great to sit at the bar and marvel at the Sashimi masters at work. The walls are lined with the thoughts of very happy customers, we agreed with the word of Taylor Swift. Food was awesome!

Decadent delights found in this pearla little spot. The service was top notch they even organised a taxi for us after dinner. The food was amazing coming out quick and hot! This place definitely has something for all those who love Japanese cuisine. Book in advance during busy snow season to avoid disappointment. Overall would recommend highly and if your in the area check this joint out!!!

Extremely satisfying meal. Ordered 10 piece sushi, tempura, and agedashi tofu, tonkastsu set between two people. Every dish we ordered was delicious!

So so freshness. Uni and Ikura were not fresh at all. Service was slow and managed table by table which meant that you could end up waiting 45 to 60 minutes to get your order. Seems to be over rated and i can confirm that there are better places for Sushi in Hakuba.

Visiting from California, we found kikkoyoya on google maps and had a wonderful lunch - amazing sushi, great local beer and sake. Kikkyoya has a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The best japanese food I have ever had. Make sure to book well in advance 😉

BEST Lunch set in the world for 900 yen food is delicious

Fantastic traditional japanese food. I ordered the kikyo-ya set ~3600 yen (picture). It has a bit of everything and will not leave you hungry. You'll most likely leave in a food coma 😁. Interesting messages from people that have been on the walls, if you are a bit of an artist you might be immortalized aswell. Big groups need to book.

Great sushi we ever had in town in Hakuba 🤗

Sadly, I think this spot is a bit overrated. The food is decent, and lots of famous visitors have signed the walls, and others rave about it. But to our tastes we've had better sushi. For example the hamachi was quite bland, some items were unusually chewy and stringy, and the soup, while flavorful, just had too many bones in the fish.

This is a popular place here in Hakuba. The sushi and sashimi was excellent. Really Fresh and generously cut. Japanese style. Will definitely return again. Book early and book ahead.

Small cozy joint. Quite touristy. Overpriced for the similar quality compared to other sushi in other cities. Taylor Swift ate here.

Some of the most delectable sushi I've ever eaten. I will die with the taste of prawn sashimi on my lips.

Overall okay but quality was so so, compared to other places in japan and internationally. I thought the salmon tasted weird and it was something difficult to get wrong.

Delicious food, fresh ingredients, good service, English menu, acceptable price and remember to book the table before you go.

The otoro is really good! Very evenly marbled! The Uni is sweet, the unagi and anago is tasty. Order the 15 pieces platter to try them all.

An absolute must visit if you are in Hakuba! Best sashimi I have ever had, especially the tuna. It's so cool to sit at the bar and watch the expert sushi chefs prepare your food. Expensive but 100% worth it. Definitely need to book in advance.

Good food, good service

For Hakuba standard, this place is worth a visit. Shabu shabu is good and sushi platter was quite value for money. The food were very fresh and we enjoyed our dinner very much. We visited twice in a week!

OMG! Must do in Hakuba really great Sushi. But make sure you book early if you want to get in.

Fresh, delicious fish. We loved our meal here at the bar. The chef was right in front of us and watching him prepare the food was half the fun. Make a reservation (or have your hotel make one like we did). Sushi and tempura were both very good. The seafood miso was also very tasty. Highly recommended!

Found this restaurant through online reviews and a friends recommendation. The service was good. The staff were very responsive and acted quickly. Food is over rated, mediocre at best. Quality of fish was not good and didn't feel fresh. If not because of the good service I would have given it a 2 star.

Worth the hype! The sashimi is super fresh and tempura is delicious. Quaint little spot with diners from all over the world leaving praise on their walls including Taylor Swift! Seafood miso is one of the best that I've tasted!

I found this place to be overrated and overpriced. I ordered the yellowtail sashimi and was quite disappointed. It was so firm, I had a hard time chewing and swallowing. For ¥1500 for 5 pieces, I expected higher quality and to melt in my mouth. The unagi bowl (nothing special) = ¥3300 and it was a large portion. However, you can find the same quality/quantity for much less. The miso soup was good.

Terrible service. This place takes forever to prepare the dishes...they take more than one hour to serve the Shabu shabu pot (which is literally water and two pieces of seaweed) and raw beef and vegetable. The sushi taste bad. High price. Not worth the visit at all!

The place is worth a visit for the writing on the wall alone. The sushi is excellent, the sashimi even better. Sukiyaki is also excellent. Chirashi is very good and worth the price. There are three varieties with more ikura and sea cucumber than the standard one. They are open for lunch from 11 to 1430 and again for dinner from 1730. The owner is very charismatic and has a blow fish license although we did not sample it.

A very good izakaya in Hakuba. This place serve hearty comfort food and it's good after a day of skiing. The chicken karaage is fantastic and highly recommend it along with the tuna and avocado salad. The sukiyaki was nice and it served with marble beef.

Amazing sushi and service. They even have Fugu (Blowfish) available!! Sushi is top notch and prepared by a master chef. Portions are generous and rolls are filled with fish. Would recommend if you are in the area, worth the effort to get to this place. Reasonable prices and excellent experience.

This is an absolute MUST in Hakuba. The food was amazing, and the service was great. We will be returning before we go back to Tokyo! Thank you!

Great sushi, friendly owner and good atmosphere. Prices are high but are reflective of quality.

Lovely restaurant, delicious food.This is one of the best restaurant in Hakuba. They have a vast variaty of sea food. Reservation is needed, otherwise it is almost impossible to find a seat.If you would like to try the "dangerous" blow fish, they offer this plate. I haven't tried so I won't be able to give a feedback.
